It happens to me on FB. People with fewer followers with hundreds of like, comments, and shares on posts no better than mine. While I do well if I get 50. I do better here--when I can get someone to follow or subscribe. On FB I just post the thing I want people to see over and over until it gets traction. It is a slog.
A few months ago a friend said she was "shadow banned" on Instagram for a political post. It is the first time I ever heard of it and do wonder if my Facebook posts are getting the same treatment when nobody seems to respond.
On target again! Back in February, I wrote about how Muskrat was after the data in the government.
I tied it together from Michael Lewis's book The Fifth Risk where he detailed how much data the U.S Government had on how this country and business works. He talked about how in the wrong hands this data could be dangerous. Muskrat has it now or has the backdoors in place to access it when needed. The 2024 election was definitely manipulated no matter how it get spun.
When you say they [the platforms] are afraid of the "risk to engagement, to brand image, to revenue. The goal isn’t to stifle opinion outright. It’s to avoid conflict. To keep users scrolling, not thinking, " I would strongly agree. I think that particularly X and right wing platforms ARE DELIBERATELY stopping posts to cut the liberals out--they report that they are threatened to be shut down and not just for swearing (which i cannot help doing)!

Glad to have subscribed to you on Substack.
